Ruaha River Lodge enjoys the honour of being the first camp constructed within the park and is located on towering rocky kopjes above a bend in the Ruaha river, in the south eastern area of the park.Due to the fact that the camp has been inplace for over forty years, game is habitutated to the presence of people and vehicles and therefore wildlife viewing in the area is excellent.

Acommodation is simple and tasteful, with cool and airy stone-built banda bedrooms, each with a small private veranda from which you can relax and enjoy the panoramic views across the river.

ruaha river lodge view There are two main refreshment areas, both also with good views of the river – the lower level boasts a restaurant while the upper level with a stunning view hosts a bar and relaxation area.


Game is prolific in the area and your morning safari starts when you look out over the river.

Mwagusi Safari Camp

The camp has ten luxury tented bandas with en-suite bathrooms with flush loos and hot showers, solar powered lighting and a large covered veranda out the front for relaxing and watching the prolific bird life in and around the camp.There is also a thatched dining banda, reading room and bar.Activities include game drives and walking safaris with an experienced guide.
