Game Drive in Saadani

DAY
01

As you head out of arrivals at Zanzibar international airport, you’ll be met and guided to the domestic terminal where you’ll join your flight to Saadani National Park. It takes just 20 minutes to arrive at Saadani airstrip where you’ll be picked up and then game drive to Simply Saadani camp.

02

Today is a day to kick back and relax at the camp. Swim in the warm waters of the Indian ocean, walk the deserted beach, explore the colour-coded nature trails around the camp, enjoy a local canoe ride along the Mafui creek, or walk down to the wildlife research centre to learn about the camp’s conservation projects from collaring elephant and zebra to protecting endangered green turtles.

03

After lunch, say goodbye to Simply Saadani camp and head out on an afternoon game drive ending at Babs’ camp in the best area for wildlife in the park. At its heart is a fabulous 20 metre high viewing tower with bar and restaurant and crows’ nest. This camp is set on the edge of a salt flat eco-system, a favourite place for passing elephants.

04

Today, after a leisurely breakfast, jump into the game drive car for a fantastic day of game drives and a thrilling boat safari on the park’s Wami river.

Today, you’ll be woken early just before dawn for a quick cup of tea or coffee before heading out for a foot safari and game drive before brunch. Then it’s time to say goodbye to Babs’ Camp and Saadani and transfer through the park to the airstrip to connect with a flight to Zanzibar. On arrival, transfer by road to Nungwi village in the north part of the island arriving at the lovely Zanzibari boutique hotel in time for drinks and dinner.

06-08

Relax at The Zanzibari boutique hotel. You can opt to go on a number of excursions from the hotel (extra cost) including a sunset cruise, visit to historical stone town, snorkelling trip & diving as well as other watersports activities and a guided tour of the nearby fishing village of Nungwi with the Nzori, “the man who knows everybody” and who also happens to be one of the hotel managers.
